Installing MS Office 2003/XP On Windows Vista – Tips and Tricks

Office 2007 to 2003This might be an old trick but i hope it will still help some people who failed their effort installing MS Office 2003 on Windows Vista.

For some reasons, MS Office 2007 might not suit you so that you decide to downgrade, uninstall MS Office 2007 and revert back to MS Office 2003. If you’re Windows XP user, the downgrade process should go smoothly without staggering problem. However some Vista users may experience difficulties during the installation and need to resort for solution that works on their operating system.

There are some occasions for the installation to take place. First is if you want to install several versions of MS Office on the same system. For example, you want to install MS Office 2003 along with the newer Windows 2007. Microsoft have already written  technical explanation on how to achieve this.  You can read the whole article here. The gist of the article is to install MS Office in subsequent order from the oldest to the newer one. In case you want to install MS Office XP, 2003, and 2007 on the same machine, you should install MS Office XP first followed by Office 2003 and Office Suite 2007 respectively.

Questioning the Future Web

Hi folks. The web 2.0 buzz is not over yet. We still see how old webs are transformed into more catchy and responsive web 2.0. We see extensive usage of gradation colors and light color schemes for the user interfaces. We also see how social networking applications are built which rely on user-centric contribution (or distributed contribution) instead of the old centralized and wholly administered classic webs.

Still, the web is evolving today as it was in the past. At the surface, we see how the paradigm toward the existence of web has shifted. Thanks to all web advocates who provide good reasonings to the management so that web is accepted as a part of the industry, a powerful marketing means, company’s brand and front-office. Thanks to all web PRs who provide shelters for information seekers and access for contributors in their managed and promoted sites. Thanks to all of us because we have contributed to the spreading of web evangelization, either voluntarily or paid, consciously or unconsciously, by adding contents to webs we visit, social apps we use, forums we participate, etc. We have helped the web to evolve and the evolution will resort to revisiting the web terminology, web infrastructures. We are questioning the future web. What will the future web look like? What will the future web serve us?

Voluntary Work Infers No Copyright?

As a developer, what makes you decide to get involved in a project? Is it the financial benefit after accomplishing the project? In term of commercial project, this might be true because executing project is another means to make a living, hence financial income is reasonable outcome. However, in non-commercial projects which are usually open source and the project takers are not paid on monthly basis, paid on a little sum of money, or even unpaid at all, it’s apparently unreasonable to lean on immediate financial benefit such that it’s practical to draw conclusion that the involvement is based on other motive.

There are various reasons why somebody decides to chime in a non-commercial project. While the list of specific reasons may bubble up, I summarize that it’s mainly personal interest. Spending significant time in an activity without tangible profit while there is clear acknowledgement that the time slot is convertible into tangible profit, it’s not logical to take such decision, given that there are options to go through and choices are freely made. Thus, there has to be illogical reason to make it logical and it comes from personal interest, emotional binding, a part of human nature, that can not be simply formulated into a set of theorems.
